Crystal Maiden vs Hoodwink

How this matchup plays

Trying to escape into the trees does little for Hoodwink here. Crystal Maiden’s Frostbite is a reliable root that locks her down, completely ignoring the evasion and tree-walking from Scurry. It's a direct counter to Hoodwink's entire defensive plan. While Hoodwink needs to land a tree-based Bushwhack to stun, Crystal Maiden can apply her control from anywhere. The large slow from Crystal Nova also makes it almost impossible for Hoodwink to create distance once she’s caught, leaving her exposed to follow-up from CM's team.

This dynamic makes ganking Hoodwink a simple affair throughout the game. She can’t rely on her mobility to stay safe when Crystal Maiden is nearby. During teamfights, CM can either interrupt a channeled Sharpshooter from a safe distance or lock Hoodwink down so she can't get it off at all. A caught Hoodwink is also an easy target for a full Freezing Field, which she has no hope of outrunning. Hoodwink is forced to play from extreme range and hope CM isn't looking her way, which severely limits her impact.
