How this matchup plays

Getting jumped at night by Night Stalker is often a death sentence for Crystal Maiden. His silence from Crippling Fear prevents her from casting Frostbite or Crystal Nova to escape, leaving her completely vulnerable. This threat is especially potent against her channeling Freezing Field, which he can interrupt from a distance. The reverse is also true, however. If Crystal Maiden sees him coming or has a teammate nearby, a well-timed Frostbite can stop his charge completely, leaving him rooted and easily focused down by her allies.

The matchup often comes down to vision and positioning. Night Stalker’s goal is to use Dark Ascension to fly over the frontline and assassinate Crystal Maiden before a teamfight properly begins. Her goal is to play from behind her cores, using wards and defensive items to survive his initial dive. If he fails to kill her quickly, her repeated slows and lockdown become a major problem for him as he tries to operate in a fight. The entire game can hinge on whether he finds her alone in the dark or dives into a prepared team.
