Crystal Maiden vs Outworld Destroyer

How this matchup plays

Picking Outworld Destroyer often means you're looking for squishy, low-mana heroes to blow up with Sanity's Eclipse. That plan falls apart when Crystal Maiden is on the other team. Her Arcane Aura provides so much mana regeneration that it completely undermines the damage from OD's ultimate, which relies on a large mana difference. He wants to punish heroes with small mana pools, but CM turns her entire team into the opposite of what he preys on. It makes his signature spell feel weak against her and anyone standing near her.

This dynamic lets Crystal Maiden play much more aggressively than she normally could. She can rotate to gank Outworld Destroyer in lane with Frostbite and know his ultimate isn't a threat in return. In teamfights, OD is forced to either ignore CM or waste his spells on a target they are ineffective against. Meanwhile, CM can position herself to land a big Freezing Field, knowing she isn't the priority target for OD's burst. Outworld Destroyer’s best bet is to get a BKB and try to focus on other heroes entirely.
