Crystal Maiden vs Omniknight

How this matchup plays

Seeing Omniknight's dispel might make you think he can handle Crystal Maiden's slows, but the reality is quite different. Crystal Maiden has multiple ways to lock down a target with Frostbite and Crystal Nova, and Heavenly Grace can only purge one person on a cooldown. This is a huge problem for a melee hero like Omniknight who needs to stay near his allies to be effective. The ultimates also don't line up well for him. His Guardian Angel protects against physical damage, but her Freezing Field deals entirely magical damage, often forcing his whole team to scatter while slowed to a crawl.

From the start of the game, Crystal Maiden can create pressure and set up kills on a slow-moving Omniknight. As teams start grouping up, this advantage grows. A good Freezing Field can win a fight on its own, and Omniknight has few tools to stop the channel from a distance. He's usually forced to play reactively, trying to save whichever ally is caught by Frostbite, while his team is getting torn apart by the area-of-effect damage. Crystal Maiden gets to proactively control fights, while Omniknight is constantly trying to clean up a mess he can't prevent.
