Crystal Maiden vs Pangolier

How this matchup plays

Thinking that Pangolier can simply roll over a fragile support is a common mistake; the opposite is often true. Pangolier's entire kit revolves around mobility and disruption, and Crystal Maiden has a simple, direct answer in Frostbite. The instant root prevents him from using Swashbuckle to engage or escape, leaving him completely vulnerable. A Pangolier who can't dash around is a very easy target for the rest of the team to collapse on. This one spell fundamentally disrupts his ability to weave through a fight.

From the start of the game, this creates problems. In lane, a single Frostbite can set up a kill on an otherwise slippery target. Later, Pangolier has to play cautiously around teamfights, knowing that Crystal Maiden can halt his initiation cold. He's often forced to build a Black King Bar to deal with her, while her only job is to position safely and save that one spell for him. This puts the pressure on the Pangolier player to find the perfect opening, giving her team a consistent way to control his impact.
