Crystal Maiden vs Puck

How this matchup plays

Thinking you can jump a lone Crystal Maiden is a common mistake for Puck players. Her kit seems designed to punish that exact kind of aggression. Puck needs to get in close to deal damage, but that puts you in perfect range for Frostbite. Because the root is instant, there's no time to Phase Shift or Illusory Orb away once it's cast. It completely grounds Puck, turning a potential kill into a certain death with any follow-up from her team. It's a fundamental counter to how the hero wants to play.

This dynamic makes Puck's life difficult from the very start. Laning against a Crystal Maiden rotation means a single root can be a death sentence. Later on, even with items, Puck has to be extremely careful about initiating teamfights. A well-positioned Crystal Maiden can hold Frostbite, essentially zoning Puck out of the fight or baiting a disastrous jump. Puck is forced to play much more cautiously, waiting for CM to show on the map or for her spells to be on cooldown, which severely limits Puck's impact.
