Crystal Maiden vs Pudge

How this matchup plays

Picking one of these heroes into the other creates a classic high-stakes dynamic for the supports. Crystal Maiden is a slow, fragile target, making her an ideal victim for a well-landed Meat Hook. Pudge can often secure a kill on his own if he catches her out of position. On the other hand, Pudge himself is a large, slow hero with no escape. If he misses his hook or is caught by vision, Crystal Maiden’s Frostbite and Crystal Nova are excellent tools for holding him in place so her teammates can bring him down.

The matchup often comes down to a duel of cooldowns and positioning. In teamfights, a Pudge will save Dismember specifically to interrupt Crystal Maiden’s Freezing Field, completely negating her ultimate. A smart Maiden player knows this and will try to position herself far in the back, waiting for Pudge to use his spell on someone else before she commits. Whoever gets the jump on the other, or forces the other's key spell first, tends to win the engagement.
