Crystal Maiden vs Clockwerk

How this matchup plays

A Clockwerk pick relies on isolating a single hero, but Crystal Maiden makes that job surprisingly difficult. If Clockwerk uses Hookshot on one of CM's allies, she can answer with a simple Frostbite. This root often gives the target enough time to survive Battery Assault and reposition or escape Power Cogs. The lockdown that Clockwerk provides is his main strength, and Crystal Maiden has a basic, reliable spell that can directly interfere with his plan, saving whichever core he was trying to burst down.

This dynamic forces the Clockwerk player to change their whole approach. They can't simply jump the most valuable enemy; they often have to find and kill Crystal Maiden first. Using a long-cooldown ultimate on a support isn't ideal, but it's often the correct play here. If Clockwerk fails to catch her, or initiates on someone else while she is alive and nearby, his team's fight can fall apart. A poorly timed jump can easily end with Clockwerk trapped while Crystal Maiden channels a full Freezing Field.
