Crystal Maiden vs Tiny

How this matchup plays

Picking a melee core like Tiny into a Crystal Maiden often feels like a deliberate handicap. Tiny wants to get on top of a single hero and delete them with his combo, but Crystal Maiden’s entire kit is designed to prevent that. A single Frostbite is enough to stop his initiation cold, leaving him awkwardly exposed. Even if he gets close, the area slow from Crystal Nova makes it impossible to stick to a target or escape if the fight turns. His game plan requires him to fully commit, which plays right into her hands.

From the laning stage onward, Crystal Maiden makes Tiny’s life difficult. Her constant slows and roots make him easy to harass and gank. In teamfights, his problem gets worse. He has to run into the fight, but a well-placed Freezing Field will shred him before he can reach a priority target. This forces Tiny to buy a Black King Bar much earlier than he might want, but even then, he can be kited after it ends. He can’t kill her allies, and he can’t easily get to her, leaving him with few good options.
