Dark Seer vs Spirit Breaker

How this matchup plays

Assuming Surge is an automatic escape from a gank is the main pitfall here. While it makes Dark Seer incredibly fast, Spirit Breaker’s Charge of Darkness will follow him across the map until it connects. The stun still lands, it simply takes longer. Spirit Breaker can also use Bulldoze to power through the slow from a Wall of Replica, and Nether Strike offers another way to lock down the slippery Dark Seer. This is the opposite of how they work together, where a Surged Spirit Breaker is a terrifying initiator. Against Dark Seer, his kit is designed to ignore the exact kind of kiting that Surge provides.

During the laning phase, the constant global threat from Spirit Breaker makes it risky for Dark Seer to use Ion Shell aggressively. Getting caught out of position means a long run back to the tower with a bull on your heels. Later on, Spirit Breaker's primary goal is often to initiate on Dark Seer himself, preventing a big Vacuum or Wall combo. Dark Seer’s success depends on playing reactively, either by Surging a charged ally to safety or by using his spells to turn on Spirit Breaker after he dives in.
