Dark Willow vs Legion Commander

How this matchup plays

Getting jumped by Legion Commander often feels like a death sentence for Dark Willow. Duel completely ignores Willow's main survival tool, Shadow Realm, locking her in place and preventing her from going untargetable. Even trying to set up a counter-gank is difficult; Press the Attack can be used to dispel Cursed Crown, allowing Legion Commander to shrug off the stun and commit to her target. Willow's entire kit is built around control and staying at a safe distance, but Legion Commander has the specific tools to close that gap and negate her defenses.

This problem gets worse as the game goes on. Once Legion Commander has a Blink Dagger, Dark Willow becomes a primary target for easy Duel victories, which then makes Legion stronger against your whole team. Willow is forced to play extremely cautiously and often has to buy an early Ghost Scepter or Aeon Disk, delaying items that would otherwise help her team. To have a chance, Willow needs to stay glued to her cores and use Terrorize proactively to stop an initiation before it starts, while the Legion Commander is always looking for that one pickoff to break the game open.
