Dark Willow vs Muerta

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst down a Muerta often relies on catching her before she can react. Dark Willow has the tools for this with Cursed Crown and Bramble Maze, which can hold Muerta in place for a long time. The problem is that Dark Willow is also very fragile. A well-placed silence from The Calling can force her to retreat or burn Shadow Realm defensively, letting Muerta fire back freely. Shadow Realm is also Willow's best answer to dodge Muerta's physical damage, making the direct trade of spells and attacks a very close call.

This back-and-forth defines how fights play out. A successful gank on Muerta usually requires Dark Willow to get the jump from out of vision. If Muerta sees it coming, she can often turn the fight around. Even a successful initiation isn't a guaranteed kill; once Pierce the Veil is active, Muerta becomes a huge threat that Willow usually has to wait out. The whole matchup often comes down to which hero gets to use their spells first and whether the other has the right cooldown ready to respond.
