Dark Willow vs Shadow Fiend

How this matchup plays

Getting locked down from the trees is the main threat for Shadow Fiend in this matchup. Dark Willow has multiple ways to hold him in place, with Cursed Crown and Bramble Maze setting up easy kills for her team. Her Terrorize ultimate can also cancel his Requiem of Souls from a safe distance. However, the reverse is equally true: Shadow Fiend can obliterate a low-health hero like Dark Willow almost instantly. If he catches her out of position, a few Shadowrazes are more than enough to secure the kill, creating a duel where the initiator almost always comes out on top.

The flow of the game often hinges on Shadow Fiend's Black King Bar timing. Before he gets it, Dark Willow can confidently set up ganks and control him in teamfights. Once he can become magic immune, her role has to change. She can no longer rely on her lockdown to start a fight on him, and instead must use Shadow Realm to survive his initial burst and Terrorize to save allies he targets. The matchup becomes a battle of positioning and cooldowns, where either hero can outplay the other depending on the specific situation.
