Dark Willow vs Queen of Pain

How this matchup plays

Trying to land a full combo on Dark Willow often feels like a guessing game. Her ability to become untargetable with Shadow Realm can completely negate Queen of Pain’s initial burst from Scream of Pain or even dodge the Sonic Wave. On the flip side, Dark Willow faces a similar challenge trying to apply her control. A well-timed Blink allows Queen of Pain to escape the stun from Cursed Crown or instantly reposition out of a Bramble Maze. Both heroes have a reliable defensive answer to the other’s primary offensive tools.

This dynamic leads to a standoff in most stages of the game. Laning is often a draw, and in teamfights, neither hero can confidently initiate on the other without risking their spell being wasted. The fight between them comes down to baiting out the other's key defensive cooldown first. As a result, both Queen of Pain and Dark Willow will often prioritize other, more vulnerable targets on the enemy team, turning their direct matchup into a secondary concern while they try to impact the rest of the map.
