Dawnbreaker vs Grimstroke

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map against Grimstroke becomes a different game when Dawnbreaker is on the other team. His usual strategy of using slows and silences to set up kills on isolated heroes is consistently challenged by the threat of Solar Guardian. Any gank can be instantly turned into a disadvantageous fight for Grimstroke’s team, as Dawnbreaker can arrive with a stun and a powerful heal for her ally. This global presence forces Grimstroke to either coordinate kills with much higher burst damage or wait until he’s certain Dawnbreaker cannot respond, limiting his options.

The matchup isn't one-sided, however. While Dawnbreaker foils Grimstroke's ganks, she plays directly into his hands during larger teamfights. When she uses Solar Guardian or otherwise dives into the fray, she creates a group of heroes that Grimstroke loves to see. Her arrival provides a perfect secondary target for Soulbind, making it easy for his team to lock down and burst two heroes instead of one. Her tendency to fight in melee also makes her a prime target for Ink Swell and a multi-hero Stroke of Fate. The outcome often depends on whether Dawnbreaker’s save is more impactful than Grimstroke's follow-up punishment.
