Dawnbreaker vs Nyx Assassin

How this matchup plays

Thinking Dawnbreaker can simply overpower Nyx Assassin with her strength and damage often proves to be a mistake. Nyx's kit is well-suited to dismantling what Dawnbreaker wants to do. Mana Burn is very effective against her, as her mana pool is relatively small for the spells she needs to cast. The most important interaction is Spiked Carapace. If Dawnbreaker connects with Starbreaker on a waiting Nyx, she stuns herself, completely interrupting her main source of damage and control. This allows Nyx to dictate the terms of the fight.

Throughout the game, this disruption continues. Dawnbreaker relies on Solar Guardian to join fights from anywhere, but Nyx Assassin excels at scouting with Vendetta and can easily interrupt the channel with a well-placed Impale. This constant threat forces the Dawnbreaker to be much more cautious with her global plays. For Dawnbreaker to be effective, her team needs to provide vision and lockdown on Nyx first. Otherwise, the bug is always waiting for that perfect moment to break her combos and turn her own aggression against her.
