Controlling the map’s tempo often comes down to which of these heroes gets the initiative. Techies works to slow the game by making jungle paths and objectives dangerous with mines, forcing opponents to play cautiously and spend gold on detection. This can stifle an aggressive team's farm and rotations. However, Dawnbreaker can completely ignore these fortified zones by using Solar Guardian to join a fight anywhere on the map. Her natural durability also means she can often survive a mistake that would kill a squishier core, letting her push through mined areas with less fear.

The game becomes a constant tug-of-war over map control. A successful game for the Techies player involves anticipating enemy movements and baiting them into deadly traps, punishing aggression with massive burst damage. In contrast, Dawnbreaker wants to constantly force the action, picking fights on her terms in open spaces where mines are less effective. The outcome depends heavily on vision and prediction; if Dawnbreaker can jump on an isolated hero, Techies can do little, but if she lands in a prepared minefield, the fight is over before it begins.
