How this matchup plays

Trying to save a core hero from Grimstroke's initiation is a serious challenge. His Soulbind creates a dilemma for Dazzle, as using Shallow Grave on one linked hero simply encourages the enemy team to switch focus and kill the other. Grimstroke can also use Phantom's Embrace to silence Dazzle at the critical moment, preventing the save from ever being cast. On the other hand, a well-played Dazzle can make it very hard for Grimstroke to find a good opening. Constant healing from Shadow Wave negates Grimstroke's lane harassment and keeps allies healthy enough to survive the initial burst.

The outcome of fights often depends on which hero executes their plan first. Grimstroke is constantly looking for two enemy heroes standing close together to land a decisive Soulbind. If he finds it, his team can often secure a kill even through a Shallow Grave. Dazzle’s goal is to position safely and keep his team spread out, ready to use his save on a primary target before the link is applied. If Dazzle can successfully counter the initial burst, Grimstroke's team is left with its key spells on cooldown and a fight that has turned against them.
