Dazzle vs Shadow Fiend

How this matchup plays

Landing a full combo of Shadowrazes or a close-range Requiem of Souls is how Shadow Fiend expects to win fights. Dazzle's whole game is about preventing that from happening. A well-timed Shallow Grave buys crucial seconds against SF's burst damage, often allowing the target to survive and turn the fight completely. The effect is purely defensive, but it directly undermines Shadow Fiend's primary contribution. Poison Touch can also be a real nuisance, slowing him down and making it harder to position for his spells or escape after committing.

Across the game, this creates a specific challenge for the Shadow Fiend player. They have to either bait out the Grave on a less important hero or find a way to kill Dazzle before he can react. This makes target selection complicated and can lead to hesitation. Dazzle’s job is simpler: stay alive and hold his spell for SF’s big moment. The edge is only slight because Grave has a cooldown and Dazzle is a fragile target himself. If SF catches Dazzle out of position or Dazzle uses Grave too early, SF gets the kill he needs and the fight swings back his way.
