How this matchup plays

Picking Dazzle into a Pudge often feels like a direct response, and for good reason. Pudge relies on isolating a single target with Meat Hook and then bursting them during Dismember. Shallow Grave is the perfect answer, preventing the kill and giving the hooked hero several seconds to get help or turn the fight. This can turn Pudge's signature pickoff combo into a simple repositioning tool that doesn't secure an advantage. The dynamic flips entirely if Pudge lands a hook on Dazzle himself, as taking out the source of the save is his most reliable path to winning engagements.

This tension defines the matchup all game. Pudge has to play around the Shallow Grave cooldown, either by waiting for it to be used on another threat or by focusing Dazzle from an unexpected angle. A successful hook on anyone else while Grave is available often baits out the save but doesn't secure a kill, potentially leaving Pudge out of position. The Dazzle player, in turn, has to constantly manage their positioning to save hooked allies without getting caught. The outcome often depends on which hero can better exploit the other's mistakes in timing and placement.
