Seeing a Dazzle get picked often makes Riki an immediate and effective counter-pick. The matchup revolves almost entirely around Dazzle’s ability to cast Shallow Grave, and Riki’s kit is perfectly designed to prevent that from happening. By blinking onto Dazzle from invisibility, Riki can immediately cast Smoke Screen. The silence is the real killer here; it stops Dazzle from saving himself or an ally, turning the hero known for preventing death into the first casualty. While the two work well together by having Dazzle save an aggressive Riki, they work terribly against each other for the very same reason.

Throughout the game, this dynamic forces Dazzle onto the back foot. He has to invest heavily in Sentry Wards and position far behind his team, which can limit his effectiveness. A good Riki player will bide their time, ignore the front line, and focus solely on assassinating Dazzle before a fight truly breaks out. For Dazzle's team to win, they need to have instant stuns and detection ready specifically for Riki. If they don't, their fights begin without their most crucial defensive spell, and Riki can clean up the rest.
