Dazzle vs Skywrath Mage

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst down a hero with Skywrath Mage feels frustrating when Dazzle is on the other team. Skywrath's game plan relies on using Ancient Seal and Mystic Flare to delete a target from high health. Dazzle's Shallow Grave is the perfect answer, completely preventing that death and wasting Skywrath's long cooldown ultimate. This forces the Skywrath to either find Dazzle himself first or accept that his primary function is being directly countered. Even the early lane harassment from Arcane Bolt can be undone by Dazzle's ability to heal his carry and the creep wave at the same time.

Throughout the game, this creates a tense dynamic. A smart Skywrath Mage will prioritize silencing Dazzle before committing his ultimate, or try to bait the Grave onto a less important hero. However, this is often easier said than done. Dazzle can play defensively, positioned to save the one person Skywrath wants to kill most. The responsibility is on the Skywrath to outplay the Dazzle, who generally has the more straightforward task of reacting to the initiation. It puts Dazzle in a slightly better position to control the outcome of teamfights.
