Dazzle vs Slardar

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map often comes down to which of these two heroes executes their plan first. Slardar is built to jump on a single hero with Blink Dagger and Slithereen Crush, using Corrosive Haze to melt them before their team can react. The problem is that Dazzle’s entire purpose is to stop that exact play. A well-timed Shallow Grave can completely nullify Slardar’s initiation, leaving him exposed and his ultimate wasted on a target that cannot die. This creates a tense dynamic where a split-second of hesitation or a slight positioning error from either player can decide the fight.

Throughout the game, this becomes a battle over vision and surprise. Slardar's team wants to play in the dark, using smoke to catch Dazzle or his carry out of position. If Slardar can land on Dazzle himself, his team usually wins the engagement. In response, Dazzle has to play cautiously, staying far behind his teammates to ensure he has time to cast his save. His team will want to group up in well-warded areas, denying Slardar the isolated targets he needs. The matchup often hinges on whether Slardar finds his initiation before Dazzle can react.
