How this matchup plays

Pushing towers with Exorcism becomes a huge risk when a Nyx Assassin is in the game. Death Prophet needs a large mana pool to sustain her push and teamfight presence, but Mana Burn consistently drains that resource, leaving her unable to cast key spells. Even if she does get her ultimate active, Nyx's Spiked Carapace can instantly stun her the moment a ghost makes contact. This simple interaction stops her from repositioning or using items. The threat of a Vendetta gank alone forces Death Prophet to play much more defensively, slowing her farm and ability to control the map.

Throughout the mid-game, Nyx Assassin dictates the pace of engagements. Death Prophet wants to group with her team and siege objectives, but Nyx can easily find her on the approach or flank a fight to neutralize her. A well-timed stun from Carapace during Exorcism can completely turn a teamfight. To manage this, the Death Prophet player needs early detection and defensive items like a Force Staff. This itemization detour delays her core damage output, but it's necessary to survive the constant pickoff threat that Nyx presents.
