Death Prophet vs Ogre Magi

How this matchup plays

Running at a key target with Exorcism is Death Prophet's entire mid-game plan, and Ogre Magi is built to stop it. While a Fireblast won't break Spirit Siphon tethers, it will hold Death Prophet in place, allowing Ogre's allies to collapse on her while she's committed. The Ignite slow also makes it much harder for her to stick to targets or kite away. Ogre himself is naturally tanky with high health and armor, so he can often survive being the initial target of the ghosts and create enough time for his team to respond. He fundamentally disrupts the "run at them" strategy that Death Prophet relies on.

This dynamic shows up early and defines the matchup later. In lane, Ogre Magi can easily trade hits and harass a squishier Death Prophet, making her start the game on the back foot. Once DP gets her ultimate, she wants to force towers and fights, but Ogre is always waiting to punish her aggression. For the Death Prophet player, this means needing an early BKB or having to play very cautiously around Ogre's position, making it difficult to set the tempo. Ogre's job is simpler: wait for Exorcism, then stun its source.
