How this matchup plays

Trying to run at the enemy team with an active Exorcism gets complicated when a Warlock is on the other side. Death Prophet wants her team to group up and follow her, but that's the perfect setup for Fatal Bonds, which makes everyone share the damage. Warlock's Upheaval also creates a huge slowing field that makes it incredibly difficult for Death Prophet to stick to her targets, letting them kite her ghosts and wait out the ultimate. The fight she wants to start is the exact one Warlock is best equipped to punish.

A successful teamfight often comes down to which hero acts first. Death Prophet's team will try to find and burst Warlock before he can cast his spells, using her silence to shut him down. In response, Warlock plays far in the back, waiting for DP to commit before dropping Chaotic Offering to stun her and scatter the push. While either hero can win the fight for their team, Warlock's entire kit feels like a direct response to Death Prophet's game plan, giving him a consistent way to disrupt her most important moments.
