Disruptor vs Outworld Destroyer

How this matchup plays

People often think Static Storm is a death sentence for Outworld Destroyer, but it's not that simple. The silence is powerful, but a quick OD can use Astral Imprisonment on himself to wait out a huge chunk of the storm's duration. This forces the Disruptor player to choose between holding the spell or using it on a target that might phase out. It becomes a game of chicken. A perfectly timed Glimpse can pull OD back as he's casting Astral, but a missed Glimpse or a pre-emptive Astral can completely nullify Disruptor's whole combo.

This interaction defines fights at all stages. Disruptor's entire game plan relies on landing that perfect Glimpse or Field into his ultimate to secure a pickoff. Outworld Destroyer's plan is to survive that initial burst, then punish Disruptor and his team with Sanity's Eclipse and high pure damage attacks. If Disruptor gets his spells off first on an unsuspecting OD, he will secure the kill. If OD dodges the combo or gets the jump himself, Disruptor is often too fragile to survive the counter-attack. The outcome really depends on who has better reactions and positioning.
