Disruptor vs Puck

How this matchup plays

Seeing Puck escape with an Illusory Orb is often the end of a gank, but not against Disruptor. The core of this matchup is Glimpse. It directly counters Puck's primary escape by pulling the hero back to their location from seconds before, regardless of how far the Orb traveled. Puck can try to dodge the Glimpse with Phase Shift, but this is a difficult timing to hit. Even if they succeed, Disruptor can follow up with Kinetic Field and Static Storm, creating a silent, damaging trap that Puck can't simply phase through or blink out of.

This forces Puck to play a much more reserved game. The constant threat of being pulled back means less aggressive split-pushing and more cautious initiations. Puck has to be aware of Disruptor's position at all times, limiting their map presence. The advantage is only slight, however, because a skilled Puck player can still outmaneuver Disruptor. If Puck gets the jump first with a Dream Coil, or builds a Eul's Scepter or Black King Bar early, they can often survive or even turn the fight around. It becomes a duel of who catches who first.
