Disruptor vs Tidehunter

How this matchup plays

Catching a Tidehunter with a Glimpse-Field-Storm combo is often less effective than it looks. Tidehunter's durability from Kraken Shell makes him difficult to burst down before he can react, and the constant damage from Static Storm can even help him by triggering Kraken Shell's strong dispel. If Disruptor has an Aghanim's Scepter, this dispel allows Tidehunter to remove the Mute from Static Storm, letting him use items like a Blink Dagger or Black King Bar to escape or turn the fight.

This makes Disruptor's primary job of setting up pick-offs unreliable. A failed attempt to kill Tidehunter often leaves your team out of position and vulnerable to a counter-initiation from Ravage. The game becomes a standoff where Disruptor wants to catch a squishier hero, while Tidehunter is happy to bait the combo onto himself. While Disruptor can make the laning phase annoying for a melee hero, Tidehunter's ability to consistently defuse Disruptor's ultimate combo gives him a small but meaningful advantage as the game progresses.
