How this matchup plays

Expecting Kunkka's boat-and-cleave combo to solve a Dragon Knight problem is often a mistake. Dragon Knight's entire kit is built to survive that kind of burst damage, especially his Dragon Blood passive which provides significant armor and regeneration. He can usually walk away from a full combo that would kill most other heroes. On the other side, Dragon Knight doesn't have the lockdown or damage to reliably kill Kunkka. A single stun from Dragon Tail isn't enough, and Kunkka can easily create distance or use X Marks the Spot on himself to escape DK’s sustained but slower damage output.

This dynamic means the matchup isn't really about the two heroes fighting each other directly. In the laning stage, they mostly trade farm. Later, Kunkka will typically ignore Dragon Knight in teamfights, aiming his Torrent and Ghostship at more fragile backline heroes instead. Dragon Knight focuses on his own job: getting into Elder Dragon Form, sitting in the front, and hitting buildings. The game becomes a race between Kunkka creating chaos and picking off supports, and Dragon Knight methodically taking objectives with his team. Who wins depends on which strategy gets executed better.
