Dragon Knight vs Necrophos

How this matchup plays

Thinking you can out-sustain Necrophos as a tank is usually a mistake. Dragon Knight builds around his high armor and the regeneration from Dragon's Blood, expecting to be a durable frontliner. Necrophos directly counters this plan. Heartstopper Aura drains a portion of a hero's max health, meaning Dragon Knight's large HP pool becomes a liability, not an asset. The constant drain bypasses his armor and makes it impossible to regenerate through sustained fights. He gets worn down predictably, making him an obvious target for a clean Reaper's Scythe execution once he's low enough.

This matchup forces Dragon Knight to abandon his entire game plan. He can't use his Dragon Form to slowly siege towers or create space if Necrophos is nearby to melt him. Instead of being an unkillable raid boss, he becomes a slow, vulnerable target. For DK to succeed, his team has to prioritize bursting Necrophos from the start of a fight, often requiring a coordinated jump. If they can't, Necrophos is free to stand behind his own team, letting his aura wear down the enemy frontline before securing a kill and turning the fight.
