Dragon Knight vs Warlock

How this matchup plays

Trying to push a tower with an early Dragon Form can feel miserable against a Warlock. Dragon Knight wants his team grouped up to pressure objectives, but this plays directly into Warlock’s hands. Fatal Bonds punishes the whole team for being near the tanky knight, and Upheaval creates a massive zone of control that a pre-BKB Dragon Knight struggles to cross. While Chaotic Offering’s stun can be dodged, the Golems provide sustained physical damage and lockdown that are tough for a slow hero like DK to deal with, even with his high armor from Dragon Blood.

The matchup often comes down to key item timings. Dragon Knight will rush a Black King Bar to ignore Upheaval's slow and run straight at the fragile Warlock. If he can secure this item and force fights before Warlock has defensive items like a Glimmer Cape or Force Staff, he can often dominate the mid-game. Warlock’s goal is to survive that initial BKB charge and kite DK while his spells and Golems wear down the entire enemy team. The game is a constant race between DK’s initiation power and Warlock’s teamfight control.
