Earthshaker vs Shadow Fiend

How this matchup plays

Trying to build momentum as Shadow Fiend can be difficult against a roaming Earthshaker. Shadow Fiend needs to stand relatively still to aim Shadowrazes, which creates a perfect opening for a long-range Fissure. This not only interrupts his farming pattern but often sets up an easy kill, slowing his progression toward key items. In larger fights, Earthshaker's stuns provide a reliable way to cancel Requiem of Souls, punishing Shadow Fiend for having to get into the middle of the enemy team to use his ultimate effectively.

This dynamic forces the Shadow Fiend player to be much more cautious. The goal becomes rushing a Black King Bar to ignore the stuns, but this requires surviving a difficult early and mid-game where Earthshaker is strongest. If Earthshaker can't find enough opportunities to punish Shadow Fiend before that BKB is finished, the fight becomes much more even. It's a timing contest, but the initial advantage in lane and early skirmishes tends to fall on Earthshaker's side.
