Earthshaker vs Night Stalker

How this matchup plays

Getting jumped by Night Stalker at night is a nightmare for Earthshaker. The core of the problem is Crippling Fear. A good Earthshaker needs to chain his spells together to be effective, but Night Stalker's area-of-effect silence shuts that down completely, often before Earthshaker can even react. If the Echo Slam or Fissure can’t be cast, he offers very little. Night Stalker is also naturally mobile and durable, making him a difficult target to lock down or burst even if Earthshaker does get a spell off.

This pattern starts from the first night and only gets worse. Night Stalker's job is to run at key targets, and Earthshaker is a prime one. Once Night Stalker gets Dark Ascension, he can fly over terrain and vision to initiate, leaving the shaker with almost no time to prepare. To have an impact, Earthshaker is forced into a reactive, defensive posture, needing his team to peel for him so he can get his spells out. Night Stalker, on the other hand, can play confidently, knowing his silence is a direct counter to Earthshaker’s game plan.
