Earthshaker vs Pangolier

How this matchup plays

Trying to lock down a Pangolier is often a fool's errand, but Earthshaker has some of the right tools for it. The core of the issue for Pangolier is Earthshaker's access to instant stuns. A well-timed Fissure can catch him from a distance before he can activate Rolling Thunder, and the Aftershock stun from an Enchant Totem is immediate enough to interrupt a Swashbuckle. While Pangolier's ultimate makes him spell immune once it gets going, Earthshaker's entire kit is designed to prevent that from ever happening. This creates a constant threat that Pangolier has to play around.

The matchup often comes down to who gets the jump on whom. An Earthshaker with a Blink Dagger is a huge problem for Pangolier, able to close the distance and chain-stun him before he can react. Pangolier’s goal is to anticipate this initiation, using Swashbuckle to dodge the initial Fissure or starting his roll from the fog of war. If Pangolier successfully starts his ultimate, he can often turn the engagement completely, running over Earthshaker’s team while being immune to his stuns. The fight hinges on that initial moment of contact.
