Earthshaker vs Riki

How this matchup plays

Trying to land a full combo on a priority target feels risky when Riki is missing from the map. Earthshaker relies on chaining his spells together for stuns and damage, but Riki’s Smoke Screen provides a long silence that completely breaks that sequence. Even if Earthshaker spots him first, Riki can often use his mobility or brief invulnerability to dodge a Fissure or Echo Slam. The constant threat of being silenced and unable to contribute forces Earthshaker to play much more cautiously than he’d like.

This dynamic means Riki can often dictate the pace of engagements. He actively hunts for supports, and a lone Earthshaker placing wards is an easy kill. In teamfights, Earthshaker's goal is to survive Riki's initial jump, which usually requires staying deep within his own team with detection nearby. If he can live through the Smoke Screen, he can still land a decisive Echo Slam. Riki, however, has the initiative from invisibility, which gives him a consistent, if small, advantage throughout the game.
