Earthshaker vs Ringmaster

How this matchup plays

Catching multiple heroes with Ringmaster's hypnotic abilities is what he wants to do, but it can play right into Earthshaker's hands. Earthshaker gets more value from Echo Slam the more targets are clumped up, so Ringmaster essentially does the setup work for him. A well-timed Blink Dagger from Earthshaker can completely reverse a fight that Ringmaster thought he had perfectly under control. Beyond that, a good Fissure can block off Ringmaster's escape routes or break his positioning before he can even get his spells off, making it difficult for him to operate effectively in a chaotic teamfight.

This dynamic forces Ringmaster to play cautiously. He has to either wait for Echo Slam to be used before committing his own ultimate or try to catch targets who are isolated from Earthshaker. The Earthshaker player, in turn, can often afford to play reactively, waiting for that one big spell from Ringmaster to create the perfect counter-initiation. The matchup isn't one-sided, though. A smart Ringmaster who baits the Blink or catches Earthshaker himself can still win the engagement, but the threat of a fight-turning Echo Slam is always there, giving Earthshaker a small but consistent edge.
