Contesting objectives or pushing towers feels incredibly risky because Shadow Demon's entire kit can backfire. The illusions created by Disruption, whether used offensively on an enemy or defensively on an ally, provide extra targets that massively power up Echo Slam. This dynamic turns Shadow Demon's signature spell into a huge liability that actively helps Earthshaker's team win the fight. Even a simple Fissure becomes more impactful, trapping the original hero alongside the very illusions that were supposed to create an advantage.

From the mid-game onward, this forces the Shadow Demon into a passive and awkward position. He's often hesitant to use Disruption for fear of creating the perfect setup for the enemy team's initiation. Earthshaker, meanwhile, can play with confidence, knowing his biggest teamfight spell gets supercharged by his opponent's abilities. The SD is often relegated to the far back lines, trying to contribute with Soul Catcher, but it's a difficult game to play when your main save or setup tool is also your enemy's biggest strength.
