How this matchup plays

Catching Snapfire often feels like it should be simple for an initiator. She's slow and has no innate mobility. However, a well-timed Firesnap Cookie can let her hop right out of the initial danger of an Echo Slam, either on herself or by an ally saving her. This forces Earthshaker to have immediate follow-up stuns ready with Fissure or help from his team. If he can't secure the kill during that first lockdown, Snapfire gets to kite from a new, safer position. Her long-range spells also mean she can contribute to fights without putting herself in easy Blink range to begin with.

This whole matchup boils down to a test of positioning and cooldowns. Earthshaker is constantly looking for that perfect opening to blink in and remove Snapfire before she can react. Meanwhile, Snapfire's entire game is about keeping her distance, using her range to her advantage, and saving her Cookie for that exact moment. A fight can be decided by whether Earthshaker catches her without that escape ready, or whether she successfully baits his initiation and hops away, leaving him exposed in the middle of her team. Each hero has the tools to win the engagement, it just depends on who makes the first mistake.
