Earthshaker vs Warlock

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map after the laning stage often comes down to a standoff. Warlock wants to set up fights by grouping enemies with Fatal Bonds before dropping his Golems. The problem is, this collection of heroes and summoned units is the perfect setup for an Earthshaker's Echo Slam. A single good ultimate from Earthshaker can completely turn a fight that Warlock started. Earthshaker can also use Fissure to cancel Warlock's Upheaval from a safe distance, disrupting his other major teamfight contribution.

This makes teamfights a delicate dance. Warlock has to wait for Earthshaker to commit or position himself far from the action to use Chaotic Offering safely. Before Earthshaker gets his Blink Dagger, Warlock's team can often force the issue and take towers. But once the Blink is up, Warlock is on a timer. The fight can depend entirely on who blinks first or who gets caught by the initial stun. If Warlock can bait the slam and then counter-initiate, his team can clean up. It's a test of patience and positioning from both supports.
