Enchantress vs Shadow Fiend

How this matchup plays

Trying to last hit against an Enchantress in lane can be a miserable experience. Her long attack range and high base damage make denying a constant threat, slowing down Shadow Fiend's soul accumulation. If she enchants a strong creep, she can zone him out completely. On the other hand, Shadow Fiend has the tools to deal with her. A few well-placed Shadowrazes can quickly burn through her low health pool, and his ability to flash farm the jungle means he can recover from a bad lane and hit his item timings much faster. It's a classic glass cannon versus a tanky-but-specialized kiter.

The matchup often comes down to who gets the jump. A well-farmed Shadow Fiend can delete Enchantress with a Requiem of Souls before she can react. However, if Enchantress survives the initial burst, the fight swings heavily in her favor. Her Untouchable passive cripples a right-clicking Shadow Fiend, making it almost impossible for him to fight back effectively while she wears him down from a distance with Impetus. Both heroes want to itemize for the other, often with a Black King Bar, which makes the timing of that purchase critical for winning mid-game engagements.
