Faceless Void vs Marci

How this matchup plays

Drafting Marci into a Faceless Void means accepting a difficult late-game problem. Her whole kit is about closing the gap and brawling, but Chronosphere completely neutralizes melee heroes who get caught. Faceless Void also has Time Walk to reliably escape her initial Rebound and Dispose combination, undoing a lot of the burst damage she needs to secure a kill. This core conflict of interests is also why they tend to underperform together; Marci can't follow up on kills inside an allied Chronosphere either.

During the laning phase, Marci can still apply significant pressure and try to set Void back. Her early aggression is often strong enough to disrupt his farm. As the game progresses, however, the dynamic shifts. The threat of Chronosphere forces Marci to play much more cautiously, often waiting for other abilities to be used before she commits with Rebound. The Faceless Void player's main goal becomes surviving her initial jump, knowing that if he can, he can often turn the fight around by catching her in his ultimate.
