Faceless Void vs Shadow Fiend

How this matchup plays

Trying to land a full Shadowraze combo on Faceless Void often feels like a wasted effort. Time Walk gives Void a reliable way to dodge the skillshot or undo a significant portion of the magic burst from Shadow Fiend’s spells. This defensive tool makes it much harder for Shadow Fiend to secure the early kills he needs to snowball his farm advantage. Time Dilation can also be a major problem for a spell-heavy hero like Shadow Fiend, punishing him for attempting his combo by extending all his cooldowns and slowing him down, leaving him vulnerable.

Later in the game, the matchup revolves around Chronosphere. A well-placed Chronosphere is one of the best ways to isolate and eliminate a Shadow Fiend, even if he has a Black King Bar active. While a farmed Shadow Fiend can still fight back and potentially survive with items like a Eul's Scepter to dodge the setup, Faceless Void dictates the terms of engagement. Shadow Fiend has to play carefully around Void's ultimate cooldown and rely on his team's armor reduction to help burst Void down before he can control the fight.
