Faceless Void vs Pangolier

How this matchup plays

Catching Pangolier in his Rolling Thunder is a problem for most heroes, but Chronosphere freezes him regardless of spell immunity. This gives Faceless Void a reliable way to lock down and eliminate a hero who is otherwise extremely difficult to pin down. Even outside of ultimates, Pangolier's typical burst combo with Swashbuckle can be frustratingly undone by a quick Time Walk, denying him kill potential and making it hard to commit on the Void.

This interaction forces the Pangolier to play a much more careful game. He has to respect the threat of Chronosphere at all times and can’t initiate as freely. The counter-play for Pangolier is to use his mobility to stay on the edge of fights, wait for Chronosphere to be used, and then roll in to disrupt the rest of Faceless Void's team. The outcome often depends on positioning and who commits their ultimate first, but Void having a direct answer to Pango's main teamfight tool gives him a consistent, if slight, upper hand.
