Faceless Void vs Riki

How this matchup plays

Dropping a Chronosphere on the enemy team usually secures a kill, but against Riki it can be a huge mistake. The real problem is Smoke Screen. Riki can cast it from outside the Chronosphere, completely blanketing the area. A silenced Faceless Void who misses all his attacks is a sad sight, stuck in his own ultimate while his target's allies are free to act. Even if Void manages to kill someone, the trade is often poor because Riki gets to freely attack his back while he's locked in place.

This dynamic warps every teamfight. A smart Riki will position on the outskirts, specifically waiting for Void to commit his ultimate. The moment Chronosphere goes down on someone else, Riki can punish with Smoke Screen and massive physical burst. Faceless Void is then forced to make a tough choice: either try to catch the elusive Riki in a perfect Chronosphere, which is very difficult, or accept that his signature spell is going to be heavily countered every time he uses it on a more convenient target.
