Faceless Void vs Shadow Demon

How this matchup plays

Trying to control Faceless Void with slows or poisons is often a lost cause. Shadow Demon relies on Demonic Purge to lock down a target, but Void's Time Walk simply removes the slow, letting him reposition freely. Any accumulated stacks of Shadow Poison are also gone, gutting Shadow Demon's primary damage source. Even Disruption feels awkward here. Using it on an ally caught in Chronosphere can save them, but often leaves them isolated and surrounded when they reappear. If used on Faceless Void himself, he can simply Time Walk away after being released.

This dynamic makes the mid-game especially rough for Shadow Demon. Faceless Void can hunt him with impunity, knowing that SD lacks a reliable escape and can't effectively kite him. As the game progresses, the pressure only mounts. Shadow Demon is forced into a purely reactive role, having to position himself far from the fight and hold his spells to try and counter a Chronosphere. This defensive posture means he can't contribute his own damage or setup, leaving his team fighting at a disadvantage even before Void commits his ultimate.
