Faceless Void vs Viper

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map against Viper is tough for a Faceless Void team. Viper applies constant pressure from the laning stage, making it difficult for Void to farm safely. If they fight head-on, Viper's Nethertoxin can break Faceless Void's passives, significantly reducing his lockdown potential from Time Lock. This lets Viper kite and wear Void down. On the other hand, Faceless Void has the definitive answer to a low-mobility hero like Viper: Chronosphere. Once caught inside, Viper has no escape and can be focused down, regardless of how tanky he is.

The game becomes a race against time. Viper’s team will try to leverage their strong mid-game to take objectives and end before Faceless Void gets his core items. Void’s goal is to survive the pressure, using Time Walk to dodge ganks and disengage from bad fights, until he can secure enough farm. Success often depends on which hero can execute their game plan first. Either Viper’s side snowballs to a victory, or Faceless Void finds the space he needs to scale up and eventually take over with a few decisive Chronospheres.
