Grimstroke vs Kunkka

How this matchup plays

Getting silenced right as you try to recall an X-Marked target is the core of this matchup. Kunkka relies on a precise sequence of spells to catch and eliminate an enemy, but Grimstroke has multiple ways to interrupt it. A well-timed Phantom's Embrace can prevent Kunkka from completing his combo, leaving his target stranded but safe. Similarly, the stun and speed from Ink Swell can be used on an ally to help them run out of the Torrent area or simply to interrupt Kunkka himself. It's not a shutdown, but it forces Kunkka to be much more careful with his timing.

This dynamic gives Grimstroke a slight advantage across the game. During the laning phase, Grimstroke can easily harass a melee hero like Kunkka, slowing his farm. Later on, Grimstroke often plays a reactive, defensive game, holding his silence and stun specifically to counter Kunkka's initiations. This forces the Kunkka player to either wait for Grimstroke to use his spells on someone else or try to find a pickoff far away from where Grimstroke can intervene. The matchup becomes a test of patience and positioning, which slightly favors the hero with more tools for disruption.
