Shutting down Marci's aggression is Grimstroke's entire game plan. Marci needs to use Rebound to close the distance and start a fight, but Grimstroke makes this a liability. Casting Ink Swell on her landing target creates a massive stun she can't avoid. If she gets caught by Phantom's Embrace, the silence stops her combo and forces her to rely on allies to break the latch, buying critical time. Soulbind is even more direct, completely halting her single-target dive and leaving her vulnerable. Grimstroke's kit is fundamentally designed to punish heroes who need to get close to be effective.

This core interaction dictates the pace of the game. Marci is often forced to play passively, unable to make her usual proactive plays across the map until she acquires a Black King Bar. This gives Grimstroke and his team significant breathing room to control territory and take objectives. For Marci to succeed, her team must either bait out Grimstroke's key spells on another hero first or find a way to jump and burst him before he can react. Otherwise, he consistently turns her greatest strength into her biggest weakness.
