Grimstroke vs Muerta

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst targets during Pierce the Veil becomes a nightmare against Grimstroke. Muerta’s ultimate makes her immune to physical damage, but all of her opponent's spells deal magic damage and land without issue. This means a well-timed Ink Swell can still stun her, and a Phantom's Embrace can silence her right in the middle of her supposed power spike. The biggest problem is Soulbind. By leashing an ulting Muerta to one of her own supports, Grimstroke ensures any disable thrown at the easier target also locks her down, completely neutralizing the threat she presents.

This dynamic forces Muerta's hand across the entire game. Grimstroke’s constant spell harass makes for a difficult lane, and later on, he dictates the terms of engagement. Muerta is pressured into buying an early Black King Bar simply to function, often delaying critical damage items needed to close out a game. Grimstroke can often play around her BKB duration with his slows and superior cast ranges, leaving her vulnerable once it expires. Muerta has a short window to make an impact, while Grimstroke has multiple ways to shut that window completely.
